About Adina

My name is Adina Soffer. I was born in New York and lived there for over 30 years until love brought me to Vienna. I have been practising and teaching yoga for many years and also started my training in the United States. My concern is to make the trend of Steel Mace Vinyasa palatable to a large group of yoga followers in Austria as well.

I am honored to guide you on this transformational journey. In the next 8 weeks you will see a huge shift in, not only in your physical practice, but also your energy level and mindset. You will step into a warrior archetype as you wield an ancient weapon, known in sanskrit as a Gada .

Through this practice and training you will increase stamina, strength and precision in your movement. You will build focus and an embodied awareness as you move with and without your mace.

Furthermore your asana practice will become more fluid and effortless then ever before!

Steel Mace

A steel mace is a modern rendition of a ancient weapon, known as the Gada. It derives from India and seen through mythological stories of deities. Known as a fearsome wea- pon of the Gods, the Gada signifies concentration of im- mense power in the individual. As the earth circulates the sun, gathering life force energy and storing it, similarly the Gada moves around the practitioner‘s body, increasing pra- nic force. It is a tool with the ability to awaken Shakti-pra- na, the embodiment of power. The Gada Mace symbolises bravery, immense physical strength, virility and radiance like the sun.

AWAKEN

We awaken our bodies to prepare for movement and flow, utilising our breath as both the guide and connector. We become aware of our present somatic state, tapping into a felt sense, as we move. We mobilise our joints and muscles, breaking through any fascial restrictions that would prevent us from from moving freely. We begin to explore sequences that prepare us for more complex movement patterns. Awakening is both our warm-up, our initiation and our ultimate goal as we invite a more primal way of both moving and being.

CONDITION

We strengthen our bodies to build structure, activate a system of support. In this training, we engage full fascial connection, meaning a weblike connection to the whole body. As soon as we handle the mace, our bodies engage. Through strength, we develop a capacity to control movement. Our nervous system responds by carving out new pathways. The mace is our tool, our guide and our Drishti (focal point).

FLOW

We discover flow by merging action with awareness. Our movements become refined through mindful repetition. Once again the mace is our guide, our teacher, and our the connection to the warrior spirit. By awakening, conditioning and entering into flow with our practice, we discover the grace that comes out of strength and a very primal recognition of self. Free from restriction we are better equipped to clear our path.
